Macro

EXTRA: this one wasn't technically part of the assignment because I look it separate from the rest of the photos, but I really liked it.

I really love macro photos! they are really fun and you can be really clever with them.  I took these (with the exception of the frog) in my back yard garden.  I really liked the look of the pollen
in the flowers, and one had a spider in it....GROSS!! Along with the flowers we had a few weeds so I took some picture of the dandy lions.  I love how they look in contrast to the green grass, or with the colors shining through against the sun.

Landscape

I took these photos up on the mountain above bountiful.  The valley and lake just look so pretty from up there and I wanted some good pictures of it. There was so much to see, it wasn't really hard to take lots of different pictures, but narrowing it down to just 5 was kinda hard.  I chose these because I like how in each picture it zooms into the mountains a little bit more and you can see more details of the lake, like how the clouds are reflecting in the lake.  As the sun started setting it looked awesome with the sun reflection and the small sun glares.  It looks like they were shot on different days from different places, but it was all in about an hour in the exact same spot.  I love how much nature changes in just a short amount of time.

Food Photography

Apple and orange

Colored milk 1

Colored milk 2

Cupcake

Sugar

So Food is something that is harder to photograph then I thought it would be.  It may look okay just sitting there, but if you don't get the angle and lighting right, the picture looks really bad.  I had to play around with lighting a lot to get them to look right.  I wanted to take pictures or bright colorful foods, hence the food coloring in the milk and the rainbow cupcakes. I also liked how you could see each little piece of sugar as it fell.

Week 7: lightbox

I chose these 3 pictures, because I thought that they were best out of the ones I took.  I wanted to try the lightbox with just a little bit of light in a ark room, so I used a fake candle, and I think it turned out pretty cool.  i thought that the quarter would be cool because its not something that would be able to stand on its own so it would be more of a unique picture.  The camera was my old camera that has just been sitting in my deck forever.  I wanted a bigger object, along with the smaller ones, and the camera was the perfect size.

Its awesome that you can get such cool looking pictures, using a few things that you can find laying around the house.  Having professional looking pictures really does not have to be complicated or expensive.

Week 4: Home

HOME:  I think that home is not necessarily the house you live in, but those you life with.  My family has moved around a lot and it wasn't the house that made a home.  You need more then walls and a roof, its full of memories, and the people you made them with.  Sometimes its not very fun, because lets face it, family can drive everyone nuts sometimes, but in they end you are still family.

composition

Rule of Thirds:  In this picture the subject isn't actually on the side, but her eyes and nose fall on the lines of the grid.

Balance: I think that the black and white really balance each other out, even though they are opposites.

Framing:  I like how there is are darker frame from the branches on the outside.  It really makes the sun reflection pop.

Harmony: I like how the red in her hair and the red on her lips really pop out.

Leading lines:  The lines from the strings lead right to the bridge, which is the focal point

mergers: I like how there is a lot going on, but it is just one  small sheet of show, without interruptions.

Perspective: The green and orange are in focus, and then is slowly gets more blurry as the picture continues.

Repetition:  The pattern of the keys on the piano.

Emphasis: The emphasis is on her red lipstick.
